Kitty!!!

I wanted to share with you my new roommate! Today is my birthday and Vic had his mum send a kitty on an airplane all the way from Maine to get here for my birthday! This is possibilty the best cat ever! He is seven months old and he purrs SO loud, I love it! We are still getting to know each other so he doesn't have a name yet. I have a few ideas in my head, but I need to hang out with him some more before I decide on one.

Something new....

Hello to a beautiful rainy day. I wanted to share something that I am really excited about. I have been working on little versions of my metal quilts. I love the process of weaving the metal together, but I was worried that my pieces were maybe getting lost in translation and people just don't know what to do with them. So I started making small scale woven metal pieces. An exciting thing about these new pieces are that they incorporate recycled aluminum cans! This adds interesting color and uses materials that were going to waste.

I then turned these little "quilts" into jewelry! I have made pendents, bracelets and earrings. I am looking forward to sharing these and see what people think. I feel like there are many possibles with this line of jewelry. So let me know what you think.

On a personal note, my birthday is tomorrow and I am turning 27. I don't know how I feel about this. Not that there is anything I can do about it.... But I guess it is time to say goodbye to my mid-twenties, unless 27 still counts. I think I am going to still count as being in the middle.

Have a great weekend.

Doodleness.....!

I would like to share my other Etsy shop with you. Its called Doodleness. http://www.doodleness.etsy.com/

I have had it open for a good bit, but have not really done any business with it. SO I re shot a lot of the pictures. I am very happy with the new pictures. I used some of my clothes for backgrounds for the pieces. I got some feedback that the brown dress form that I was using in the first batch of photos was too dull. I was told that it didn't go with my "lively" product. So here ya go.

New Pictures

I have posted new pictures of my quilts on my Etsy shop and I wanted to share them with you guys. My first batch of pictures were terrible. They were dark and hard to see. I am trying very hard to take better pictures and learn how to take a professional looking picture at home.
These are my new pictures. I used natural light and tried to "set up" a little display for the quilts. I wanted the viewer to have a better idea of the different ways the quilts could be used.
I hung the piece on the wall on my porch and set it in a stand.
I would love some feedback. And if anyone has a link to how create professional lighting in your home, I would love the link.
Thank you for stopping by.

Scavenger Hunt Project

So I am currently participating in Art house Co-op Gallery's Scavenger Hunt Project. They send you a list of 24 words and phrases, then you are supposed to interpret them and represent them as creatively. This has been a really fun project and has really gotten my creative juices flowing. One of the words is "Home" so I cut up a road map and made a little house out of it. On the front is a star and the words "you are here" like on one of those maps at a mall or something. I currently live in Atlanta so I made sure that when I folded up the map like a house that Atlanta would be on the front. I am from Columbus, Ga so the roof of the house has Columbus on it. I really enjoyed making this little guy and would love to know what other people think.

Well Here I Am!

This is officially my first step into the world of blogging. I'm am excited to have this little space that is for whatever I want it to be. My original reason for starting this blog was to promote my Etsy shops, but now I'm looking forward to just posting anything. I have this feeling of freedom, like I could have a lot of fun with this.

Well I am going to keep this first entry short because, honestly I am a little over whelmed. :)
But here is an example for some of my work. It is Copper and Brass weaved together with a blue patina. They can be made any size and are great to add a little texture to your wall. I love making these because I can experiment with them with different colors, shapes, and even adding objects and images to them.
